Zen Shiatsu
“Whatever pain or problem we have, if it helps us find a quality of presence – where we can open to it, see it, feel it, and find the truth concealed in it – that is our healing.” – John Welwood
Zen Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork that is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Essentially, Shiatsu means finger-pressure, shi meaning finger and atsu meaning pressure. Similarly to acupuncture, Zen Shiatsu follows the twelve meridians of energy in the body, using finger-pressure following the line of meridians. It focuses on working with the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and organs as well as tapping into the flow of energy in the body, also known as Ki. Doing this allows for a focus on not just the physical body, but also the mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies as well.
